Ash Clean-up at St. Leonard's Boys' School

While browsing Facebook, I came across a familiar name, Stephen Scott. He is the current principal of the St. Leonard’s Boys’ School and was requesting old scholars to give assistance to the ash clean-up at the school with which he was given charge over. “This is an activity that Project Discovery could get involved with”, was my first reaction to the message! I contacted the principal and just like that, we were onboard!

On arrival, we were informed that most of the classrooms were cleaned so we were assigned one of the staff rooms, a Spanish room, and an art room. It took us just over three hours to complete the tasks; wiping down windows and desks, mopping floors and rearranging furniture. At the end of the activity, the old scholars provided some refreshments which were welcomed by the whole team.

The principal, Rev. Stephen Scott, was very pleased with the work Project Discovery had done, "I just really want to thank Project Discovery for coming and giving voluntary service here at the St. Leonard’s Boy's school, in cleaning it up in readiness for school on Monday morning. Without them, we would not have gotten this far, and I really want to thank Mr. Gaskin from the bottom of my heart, a young man that I hold in high esteem and all the young people who came shows that the young people are still doing great things across Barbados so thank you, thank you, thank you, very much from the St. Leonard's Boy's school family!"

I firmly believe that this initiative has sparked a healthy and productive partnership between Project Discovery and St. Leonard’s Boys’ School, and I look forward to seeing the actives we will embark on together in the future.
